(Finished March 11th, 2023) Part 1 The Best Songs From Teen Movies

Hello,

I started watching the new teen TV series “School Spirits”. I’ve watched the first two episodes so far and quite like the show. One of my favorite things about teen media is the great music that’s a part of them. I was more than a little disappointed that “School Spirits” doesn’t have much music at all.

But that still inspired me to start this series of blogs about the best music from teen media, mostly movies. I’m following the Top 40 movies from the following website: bestlifeonline.com/the-40-greatest-teen-movies-ever-ranked/

I’m going to post the famous songs, but also at least one of the more obscure songs.

This is ranked #5 on their list. From “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”:

1) The Beatles “Twist and Shout”:

This has been in too many movies to mention. 2) Yello “Oh Yeah”:

3) Big Audio Dynamite “B.A.D.”:

4) The English Beat “March of The Swivel Heads”:

And for some reason “Pretty In Pink” didn’t even make bestlifeonline.com’s Top 40. That’s bizarre as I think it’s the second best 80s soundtrack “Pretty In Pink”:

5) OMD “If You Leave”:

6) Suzanne Vega “Left of Center”:

7) Jesse Johnson “Get To Know Ya”:

I may or may not have had a crush, still do, on Miss Molly Ringwald. 8) INXS “Do Wot You Do”:

The Furs reworked their own song and turned it into this powerhouse buttkicker. 9) The Psychedelic Furs “Pretty In Pink”:

10) New Order “Shellshock”:

11) Belouis Some “Round Round”:

12) Nik Kershaw “Wouldn’t It Be Good”:

13) Echo and the Bunnymen “Bring On The Dancing Horses”:

14) The Smiths “Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want”:

bestlifeonline.com’s # 40 ranked movie “Can’t Buy Me Love”:

15) The Beatles “Can’t Buy Me Love”:

16) The Beach Boys “Surfin’ Safari”:

17) The Cutting Crew “One For The Mockingbird”:
