Hello,
The second dreary blog in two days. Yesterday I wrote about the too early death of The Smiths’ Andy Rourke. Now I’d like to post about someone that died three weeks ago. That’s Canadian tunesmith Gordon Lightfoot. He wrote and played some of the 70s biggest hits. He was one of the musicians that was so fundamental in creating that mellow rock of the 70s. I’m going to post five of his songs and some other great mellow rock of the 70s.
Although Mr. Lightfoot hit his stride in the early 70s he kept on performing through most of his life. His musical legacy will last a long time. The following five songs are some of the most famous songs of that musical legacy. Although he died his music never will.
1) “If You Could Read My Mind”:
2) “Sundown”:
3) “Carefree Highway”:
4) “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”:
5) “Rainy Day People”:
6) The Byrds “Turn Turn Turn”:
7) Simon and Garfunkel “Sounds of Silence”:
8) Lovin’ Spoonful “Do You Believe In Magic”:
9) Donovan “Sunshine Superman”:
10) Buffalo Springfield “For What It’s Worth”:
11) The Mamas and Papas “Monday, Monday”:
12) The Turtles “Happy Together”:
13) Simon and Garfunkel “Mrs. Robinson”:
14) The Lovin’ Spoonful “Summer In The City”:
15) Judy Collins “Both Sides Now”:
16) Scott McKenzie “San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Head)”:
17) The Youngbloods “Get Together”:
