(Finished October 24th, 2024) Greatest Albums of All-Time, Part 1 Dido “No Angel” & Other Greatest Hits

Hello,

Dido’s “No Angel” busted out in Fall of 1999, although the CD was released June 1st, 1999. The CD was a slow burn and it took awhile to get big. I remember the first time I heard this CD. I had no expectations of the quality of the CD. However song after song after song were all amazing. Dido is still great, but she’s another one who peaked with her first album. That’s no knock on her as it’s an amazing CD.

I’m surprised “No Angel” peeked only at #4 as that was indeed one of the best CDs of 1999. There were five singles released from “No Angel”, the peak ranking is from Billboard’s Hot 100 unless otherwise noted. In America “Thank You” was the first single, it peaked at #3. The second single, “Here With Me” peeked at #49 on US Adult Top 40. I’m not sure how that’s different than the Billboard Hot 100.

The third single was “Don’t Think of Me”, it peeked at #35 on US Adult Pop Airplay. “Hunter” seems to be “No Angel’s fourth song, in my opinion this is Dido’s best song. It peeked at #16 on US Pop Airplay list. Finally the last single from “No Angel”: was “All You Want”. I show no chart activity for this song, it seems it was ineligible to chart based on the funky format it was released. The songs were released as singles in different order in England and America, I apologise for any confusion. (Thanks to Wikipedia.org for much of the information in this blog.)

It would be four more years before Dido released “Life For Rent”. At the bottom of this blog I’ve posted several of Dido’s other greatest hits. Now on to my first in the greatest albums of all-time series.
