(Finished December 8th, 2024) Part 2 of Their Next Best Songs: Mellow Songs

Hello,

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas or whatever you choose to celebrate or not celebrate. And Festivus for the rest of us.

This blog was inspired by Dead or Alive’s “Something In My House”. While that isn’t their most famous song it is indeed a very good song. I think almost all would agree that their best song is “You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)”. I’ll post the songs for Dead or Alive in a later blog.

I’ll post a musician’s most popular song according to music.youtube.com. For their next best songs I’ll post three or four songs that I like, although I won’t post the most popular songs.

That was the original way I was going to do it, but I want this blog series to expose for deep cuts. Thus I’ll post a musician’s top 5 most played song titles and how many listens each song has. Then I’ll post five other songs by that band, this should lead to some real deep cuts. Hopefully that will be good as one can never have enough great music to listen to. I’m going to rework part 1 and include the same musicians on that blog just with more and less well known songs.

If you stumble across these blogs in the next few years the number of listens will obviously be considerably higher. I like to have about 17 songs on each blog. Thus I’m going to have six next best songs for each artist.

Abba’s most popular song on music.youtube.com is “Dancing Queen”, it has 1.2 billion listens. 2) “Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)” with 680 million listens 3) a personal favorite “The Winner Takes It All” with 509 million listens 4) “Mamma Mia” with 437 million listens and 5) “Chiquitta” with 414 million views.

Their next best songs:

1) “Money Money Money”:

2) “Super Trouper”:

Pretty much everything about this song is perfect, how does this song only have 168 million listens? 3) “Take A Chance On Me”:

4) “SOS”:

5) “Knowing Me Knowing You”:

6) “Waterloo”:

Jimmy Buffett’s most popular songs- was there any doubt- include “Margaritaville”, it has a surprisingly low 57 million listens.
