Hello,
There are a whole lot of details out about Led Zeppelin making a comeback, no really this time it’s real. There’s even rumors about a new CD with mostly new music titled “Wearing and Tearing”. According to these false rumors the band will be on tour for a year. As a huge Led Zeppelin I did everything I could, which obviously isn’t much to make this true.
Reasons why it’s not going to happen. 1) Robert Plant says it’s not going to happen. He’s still out there touring- even though he’s 76. Guitarist Jimmy Page is 80 and mister all around, John Paul Jones, is 78. Possibly Led Zeppelin would do a few shows as a residency, but anything beyond that isn’t realistic.
2) The band ended when drummer John Bonham essentially drank himself to dead. Shortly thereafter Led Zeppelin broke up. I think the closest we are going to see a Led Zeppelin has already happened. That’s the Page and Plant reunion between 1994 to 1998, which another brief reunion in 2001. I saw one of those shows in Salt Lake City and honestly I was bored. Too much jamming and playing the songs for too long. I know that’s bizarre to read that after hearing me say how much I love Led Zeppelin.
I have also seen Robert Plant solo a couple of times and he was much better. He had the Led Zeppelin stuff to rely on and his own mostly amazing solo stuff.
I’ve seen a couple of reasons why these false rumors have been made again. There’s a band called Led Zeppelin 2, that is going on a tour in 2025. Also the documentary “Becoming Led Zeppelin” will be out in February 7th, 2025. Led Zeppelin is such a huge endeavour that this documentary will be opening in theatres. And yes I’ll be going to see it.
Honestly if I had a chance to see a reunited Led Zeppelin I would do it one minute. I would hope they play more songs for shorter run times. I don’t need a 30 minute “Dazed and Confused”.
But sadly at the end of the day there will never be a Led Zeppelin reunion, I wish that there were. I would be excited to hear new Led Zeppelin music.
