(Finished January 4th, 2024) Part 1 of Those Good Old, Sad Mournful Songs That Touch Your Spirit

Hello,

I keep on saying the “Twisters” soundtrack is the best CD of 2024. At least 20 of the 29 songs are near classics. Country music isn’t even close to being my favorite genre, but I’m not a hater. But I can’t believe how many great country songs are on “Twisters”. On my walk I heard Tyler Childers “Song While You Were Away”.

It put me in the mood that a great ballad does. This blog is a tribute to all those great ballads and mournful songs that bring so much great music in the world.

1) Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock “Picture”:

2) Halfway To Hazard “Daisy”:

3) Tyler Childers “Song While You Were Away”:

This is a very good version of this song but I’m still looking for it’s definitive version. 4) Alexandra Burke “Hallelujah”:

Goosebumps every damn time. 5) Sufjan Stevens “Casimir Pulaski Day”:

6) Hayley Westenra “Both Sides Now”:

7) Skeeter Davis “End Of The World”:

8) Bonnie Raitt “I Can’t Make You Love Me”:

9) Fleetwood Mac “Landslide”:

10) The Chicks “You Were Mine”:

For being such an old song this song is so timely for 2025. 11) The Highwomen “The Highwomen”:

There’s got to be at least one Smiths song, right. This is a relatively happy Smiths song. 12) The Smiths “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out”:

13) George Jones “He Stopped Loving Her Today”:

14) Terry Jacks “Seasons In The Sun”:

15) Elvis Presley “In The Ghetto”:

16) Lewis Capaldi “Someone You Loved”:

17) Chantal Kreviazuk “Leaving On A Jet Plane”:
