(Finished June 26th, 2025) Part 3 of The 40 Songs That Peaked at #40 in the 80s + Other Songs That Didn’t Reach That High

Hello,

Interesting there were 40 songs that peaked at #40 in the 80s. Some of these songs are classics. Some of these songs are songs and bands that quickly faded away after this inauspicious chart performance. Since I like blogs of 17 songs I’m going to fill out these blogs with songs that didn’t even reach the Top 40 but are great songs.

My thanks to Billboard, Charlie’s 80’s Attic Radio Station and this website:

These 13 songs are from the years 1984-1989. Then the rest of the songs from the Total Music Awards website.

1) Real Life “Catch Me I’m Falling”:

Bonus video: Because my brain is weird the above song made me think of the near same named “Catch Me (I’m Falling)” by Pretty Poison. While I don’t remember the Real Life song I was always a big fan of the Pretty Poison song:

2) Styx “Music Time”:

3) Joyce Kennedy & Jeffery Osborne “The Last Time I Made Love”:

4) Steve Perry “Strung Out”:

5) Kenny Loggins “Forever”:

6) Ratt “Lay It Down”:

7) Laura Branigan “Spanish Eddie”:

8) Communards featuring Sarah Jane Morris “Don’t Leave Me This Way”:

9) The Cure “Just Like Heaven”:

10) Yes “Rhythm of Love”:

11) Boy George “Live My Life”:

12) The Cover Girls “Promise Me”:

13) Eurythmics “Don’t Ask Me Why”:

The best songs that peaked at #91.

This is one of the first songs that introduced us to the amazing Miss Del Rey. 15) Lana Del Rey “Video Games”:

16) Michael Jackson “Stranger In Moscow”:

Best songs that peaked at #90:

17) Mary Chapin Carpenter “Shut Up and Kiss Me”:

18) Tegan & Sara “Closer”:
