Hello,
I’m an old man and I still think the decade of the 80s was the best decade of music in this modern era of music. I looked at the year end chart for 2000. Sure there were some great songs. But oh my goodness there were some crappy songs. I also looked at 2008’s Billboard year end chart and again there were so many bad songs in that year. There were probably more bad songs than good songs.
So from my old man’s perspective I went back and looked to see what year was the last great Billboard Year End Top 100 and that year seems to be 1991.
I’m going to countdown those 100 songs in order of quality in my opinion.
Also as an old man I find this song offensive and won’t be posting the video here. The music of the song is good, if the lyrics were more appropriate this song would be much higher. 100) The Divinyls “I Touch Myself”:
I just knew this would be terrible and I am not wrong. The best part of this song is when the back up singers sing the original chorus. Other than that though… 99) Vanilla Ice “Play That Funky Music”:
98) Tara Kemp “Piece of My Heart”:
Hey let’s take the great song “Motownphilly”, take out all the parts that make it such a good song and then have some prepubescent sing on it. No, let’s not because this is what happens. There are very few kid performers that are absolutely amazing. These guys are definitely not Stevie Wonder or Michael Jackson. 97) Another Bad Creation “Iesha”:
See above, although these guys might have actually gone through puberty. 96) Hi-Five “I Can’t Wait Another Minute”:
95) Hi-Five “I Like The Way (The Kissing Game)”:
I was never a big fan of Will Smith’s rapping career. 94) DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince “Summertime”:
Keith is the only sweating going on in this song. 93) Keith Sweat “I’ll Give My Love To You”:
Better song than I remembered. 92) Rick Astley “Cry For Help”:
91) Aaron Neville “Everybody Plays The Fool”:
Will To Power goes to the nostalgia well one too many times. 90) Will To Power “I’m Not In Love”:
89) Ralph T “Sensitivity”:
It seems this song was so much better back in the day. 88) Naughty By Nature “O.P.P.”
You can see why these guys were a one hit wonder. 87) Jesus Jones “Real Real Real”:
This song isn’t terrible, but I had no memory of it at all. 86) The Escape Club “I’ll Be There”:
