(Finished December 29th, 2025) Part 1 of The Most Underappreciated/ Unknown Songs of the 80s

Hello,

As I’m working on the best 80s ballads I want to work on the 80s most underrated songs of all-time. These are great songs that for some reason have been mostly lost to time. These songs should be more popular and better remembered now. That is unless a weirdo like me dredges them up from the past again. Enjoy!!

Special thanks to the YouTube Obscure 80s Songs Video collection. I remembered a lot of great songs and even discovered some new songs.

1) The Greg Kihn Band “The Breakup Song (They Don’t Write Em)”:

2) Robbie Dupree “Steal Away”:

3) Santana “Winning”:

4) Depeche Mode “But Not Tonight”:

5) John Parr “Naughty Naughty”:

How did this song not break out bigger. I completely had forgotten this song and now it has permanent status on my iPod. 6) The Housemartins “Happy Hour”:

7) New Order “Blue Monday”:

8) When In Rome “The Promise”:

9) Echo and The Bunnymen “Bring On The Dancing Horses”:

10) Paul Hardcastle “19”:

11) After The Fire “Der Kommissar”:

12) Robert Hazard “Escalator of Life”:

13) XTC “Senses Working Overtime”:

Obviously one of the best songs from 1979’s “The Wall”, but also a single in 1980. That’s why it qualifies for this blog series. 14) Pink Floyd “Run Like Hell”:

15) Living In A Box “Living In A Box”:

One of the many, many amazing songs from “The Joshua Tree”. 16) U2 “Red Hill Mining Town”:

17) Roger Waters “5:01AM (The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking)”:
