(Finished April 27th, 2026) Part 1 of Songs Rocking My iPod and Why Are They There?

Hello,

I haven’t done one of these for awhile. These are the songs that are rocking my iPod as of today. Why the song is on my iPod is the main point of this blog. Obviously I like/ love each one of these songs. Obviously that’s one of the main reasons each song is on my iPod. But there is usually a secondary reason that song is on my iPod.

I love musicals and I started listening to this one almost as soon as it came out. I quickly fell in love with it and have even been able to see the Broadway touring production here in Salt Lake City. A great story and the music is just so good. 1) Leslie Odom Jr., Anthony Ramos, Daveed Diggs et. al “Alexander Hamilton”:

I considered going to see Combat, Teen Mortgage, Militarie Gun and Joyce Manor in concert a week from tomorrow. I still may or may not go. If I somehow decide to go I want to be as familiar with their music as possible. 2) Teen Mortgage “Sick Day”:

From the greatest decade of music ever, I still love this music as much as I did back when it was first released. Marvin Young, aka Young MC, collaborated with Tone Loc on writing this song and “Funky Cold Medina”. 3) Tone Loc “Wild Thing”:

Every once in a while I go through a 80s hair metal phase. Along with Poison, Motley Crue, Ratt and all the other great hair metal bands I from time to time discover other hair metal bands. Exodus is one of those bands. I don’t believe I was even award of them when they at their peak. However about 40 years later I’ve discovered they have some songs that I enjoy. 4) Exodus “Fabulous Disaster”:

A song that came out when I was in junior high and I’ve loved it ever since. 5) Kenny Loggins “This Is It”:

A band I discovered reading Classic Rock magazine, which is likely my favorite magazine. Although their name is Classic Rock it also highlights a lot of other great songs and bands, such as Brave Rival. They’re one of my favorite new bands. Eleven of the eight hundred songs I have on my iPod are by Brave Rival. 6) Brave Rival “Five Years On”:

A song that came out when I was in junior high and I’ve loved it ever since. 7) Journey “Stone In Love”:

A song that came out right before I went on my LDS mission and I’ve it loved ever since. Perhaps my favorite Madonna song and one of my favorite Madonna videos. 8) Madonna “Papa Don’t Preach”:

A song that came out as I was finding my way in life and I’ve loved it ever since. 9) AC/DC “Thunderstruck”:

From the greatest decade of music ever, I still love this music as much as I did back when it was first released. Sadly this song is Young MC’s peak, it’s such a great song. I love the lyrics and rhymes. 10) Young MC “Bust A Move”:

A band that I discovered through seeing constant ads for on Facebook. I usually ignore those or restrict them so I don’t have to see them. Eventually I bought some of their music and considered seeing them in concert. Although they may rock too hard for me. 11) Avatar “Hail The Apocalypse”:

Springsteen is out on his Land of Hope and Dreams tour speaking out against our felon president. I can’t support Springsteen enough and I know tens of millions of my fellow Americans agree. 12) Bruce Springsteen “Land of Hope and Dreams”:

I considered going to see Combat, Teen Mortgage, Militarie Gun and Joyce Manor in concert a week from tomorrow. I still may or may not go. If I somehow decide to go I want to be as familiar with their music as possible. 13) Militarie Gun “Sway Too”:

Another band who I’ve seen in concert and this is one of those songs I listened to become more familiar with their music. 14) Ghost B.C. “Depth of Satan’s Eyes”:

Every once-in-a-while a country song breaks out of its country bubble and enters into popular conscience. Like The Charlie Daniels Band’s “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” before and Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas afterwards. 15) Maddie and Tae “Girl In A Country Song”:

See song 13. 16) Militarie Gun “Life Under The Gun”:

Another great song that I’ve loved since the 70s. 17) Soul Asylum “Somebody To Shove”:
