(Finished June 20th, 2026) Part 6 of Those Good Old Mournful Songs That Touch Your Soul

Hello,

I always say the “Twisters” soundtrack is the best CD of 2024. At least 20 of the 29 songs are near classics. Country music isn’t even close to being my favorite genre, but I’m not a hater. But I can’t believe how many great country songs are on “Twisters”. Listening to my iPod on my walk I heard Tyler Childers “Song While You Were Away”. That’s just one of the many great songs from that CD.

It put me in the mood that a great ballad does. This blog is a tribute to all those great ballads and mournful songs that bring so much great music to the world.

Starring that amazing and mournful sax solo, which kicks this song to the next level. 86) Glenn Frey “The One You Love”:

So many songs from Bond movies have been great, including this classic song. 87) Rita Coolidge “All-Time High”:

88) The Eagles “New Kid In Town”:

89) Air Supply “The One That You Love”:

90) Morrissey “The More You Ignore Me The Closer I Get”:

91) Dido “Hunter”:

92) Bruce Springsteen “Youngstown”:

93) The Doors “The End”:

94) Tori Amos “Silent All These Years”:

95) The Smiths “What Difference Does It Make”:

This is one of the biggest gut punch songs of all-time. It’s such a great song, but when the song gets to “only in my dreams” it’s a gut punch. We can listen to Christmas music all year, correct. 96) Bing Crosby “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”:

97) Brooks and Dunn “That Ain’t No Way To Go”:

Prepare to have your heart broken. 98) Kenny Loggins “Return To Pooh Corner”:

99) Lana Del Rey “Young and Beautiful”

Sadly this is the best video I could fine, obviously not Brooks singing. 100) Garth Brooks “Wolves”:

101) The Smiths “Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want”:

102) The Red Clay Strays “Revival”:
