This year is the 45th year anniversary of MTV, perhaps the most significant music movement in my life. Before MTV we didn’t know what most musicians looked like, unless we saw them on magazines/tvs and movies. MTV started on August 1st, 1981

But when MTV started we could see everyone and know what they looked like. We found out so much more the musicians, got music news, saw concert coverage and eventually game shows. Sadly those game shows and “Real World” reality TV was the beginning of the end for the best MTV era. However I always loved “Remote Control”, shout out to Ken Ober, Colin Quinn and Kari Wuhrer. From about 1981 to the late 90s was the era of being able to watch music videos twenty-four hours a day. So many great memories. I wonder how many hours I spent watching MTV in the 80s?

I realize that many of these aren’t technically videos. However they’ve been played so many times that many consider them videos- even if they didn’t start out that way.
